"Beating" procrastination doesn't work
I hope you had a great weekend. I'm traveling for work this week but made it a personal trip as well by coming a few days early - IMO underrated way to balance work/personal! Do you like traveling for work or don't care for it?
"Beating" procrastination doesn't work
Do you ever find yourself putting off a task, starting it, immediately feeling a lack of motivation, picking up your phone, going back to the task, and repeating the cycle? I certainly do, and I learned how to start breaking the cycle from my latest read Tiny Experiments.
Instead of beating yourself up when you procrastinate and trying to "force motivation", try getting to the root of why you're procrastinating by looking at it through 3 angles:
Head - Is the task at hand the right one to help you accomplish your overall strategy or goals? If not, maybe you need to change directions.
Heart - Does the task feel exciting? If not, how could you make it more exciting (e.g. pairing it with a more exciting task, like watching TV while you walk on the treadmill)
Hand - Are you able to do the task? If not, you may consider outsourcing, delegating, or getting training to do the task.
